ABSTRACT
In vivo hemolysis. Part II: diagnostic algorithms
Hemolytic anemia often represents a life-threatening condition and a prompt diagnosis is essential to start an effective therapeutic approach. Although correct anamnesis and physical examination are important in the diagnostic work-up, laboratory tests are essential to differentiate hemolysis from other causes of anemia. The second part of our review is therefore dedicated to the diagnosis of hemolytic anemia, through the illustration of appropriate algorithms.
