ABSTRACT

Epidemiology of viral infections of central nervous system (CNS) in the Puglia region

After reviewing the available literature to identify diagnostic criteria employed to establish viral etiologic agents possibly involved in CNS disorders, an operative algorithm was developed according to the clinical as well as environmental evidence. Results obtained along a period of 6 years (2006-2012) by molecular biology tests on 1984 cerebrospinal fluids from patients suffering from CNS disorders are reported.
